At the Whisperwood Villa, Charlottetown on Thursday, February 18, 2010 of James Reginald Travers of Charlottetown and formerly of Alberton age 86 years. Born in Kildare Capes on November 3, 1923 he was the son of the late John C. and Jemima A. (nee Feakes) Travers. Beloved husband of Helen L. (nee Hardy Vessey) Travers and loving father to David (Catherine Pieroway) Travers of Bedford, N.S. and Scott Travers of London, Ont. Step-father to Phillip (Annabelle) Vessey of Fredericton, N.B. and Jean (Charles) MacDonald of Charlottetown. Cherished grandfather to Ashley Travers of London Ont; Jill (Tom) Heighway of Fall River, N.S.; Stacey Linger of Charlottetown; Janice (Ed) Cooper of Mississauga Ont.; Karen (Kyle) Scott of Fredericton, N.B. Great-grandfather to Annika, Campbell, Finn & Katie. He is also survived by a brother Arthur (Phyllis) Travers and by a sister Betty (Atwood) Dunville of Alberton. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Travers of Summerside, Isabel Hardy of Montrose, and Helen Hardy of Summerside. He was predeceased by his first wife Mabel (nee Hardy) Travers and by two brothers and one sister William, Clayton and Edna. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Wesley Hardy, Norman Hardy and Raymond Hardy.Reg was a lineman with Maritime Electric for much of this 34-year career.He Thoroughly enjoyed his retirement spending time woodworking, gardening and having coffee with his family on the back deck.In recent years he was a familiar face in Charlottetown taking daily walks. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton. Funeral on Sunday afternoon February 21st from the Gordon Memorial United Church, Alberton for funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Sue Paterson officiating. Interment in the Montrose United Church Cemetery.
