"To remember is another way to love"

 

The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on the morning of June 20, 2026, with her family by her side, of Jean Mary Rafferty (nee Murphy). Cherished mother of Adam and Colton (Emma), and loving Nanny to Elizabeth and Emily, now and forever reunited with her beloved husband, John.

 

Born on May 10, 1962, to the late Wilbert and Geraldine (nee Gavin) Murphy of Alma, Jean was the youngest of six children. Married in 1987, Jean and John made their home in Huntley and later Montrose, raising their two sons. A friend to many, her kind and fun loving dispostion touched the lives of all who knew her.

 

Dear sister to surviving siblings, Preston (Helen) Murphy, Ronnie Murphy, and Patsy (Stewart Caseley) Praught, sisters-in-law, Judy Murphy, Darlene Siddall, Susan Rafferty, and Karen Rafferty, brothers-in-law, Jim Crawford and Glen (Debbie) Rafferty, also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

 

Predeceased by her husband John Rafferty, parents, Wilbert and Geraldine (nee Gavin) Murphy, brother, Willard Murphy, sister, Anne Crawford, brothers-in-law, Dale Rafferty, Kevin Rafferty, and Dale Siddall, and nephews, Frank Murphy and Matthew Murphy.

 

Resting at Rooney's Funeral Home in Alberton for visiting hours Wednesday, June 24th from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., with funeral mass to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church on Thursday, June 25th at 10:30 a.m."
