The death peacefully at the Long Term Unit of the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home, Tignish, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with his loving family by his side, of Melvin Joseph Doucette, of Tignish, age 99 years. Born at Tignish, PEI, on June 2, 1927, he was the son of the late Emmmanuel P. and Agnes M. (nee Doucet) Doucette. On July 28, 1954, he married the love of his life, Rosetta Mary (Peters). They were married for 70 years and raised their seven children.

Lovingly remembered by his children, JoAnne (Ray), Darlene (Alban), late Mona (Roy), Ritchie, Norman (Michele), Lee (Kathy), and Cory (Nicole). He is also survived by his brother, Francis, brother-in-law, Roy LcClair, sisters-in-law, Dolores, Esther, and Ada, his many nieces, nephews, and a large number loving family members near and far. Forever to be remembered as "Pepe" to Derrick, Chad, Lynn, (Tony), Sara (Greg), Tina (Adam), Tanya (Anton), Travis, Logan, Amber (Taylor), Kyle, Amanda, Brett (Amy) and Brittany (Logan). Great-grandfather to Tristan (Shana), Taylor (Anthony), Aiden, Harlee, Parker, Brayden, Everlee, Beau, Tate, and Philip. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mona (Roy) Perry, great-granddaughter, Sophia Mona Rose, and by siblings, Henry (Loretta), Walter (Edna), Oville (Janette), Rita (Elmer), Arrella (Duke), Gerry (Shirley), and Judy (Roy).

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, June 3rd at St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, PEI, 2:00 p.m., Rev. Tim Broderick, Celebrant. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
