The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Friday, January 30, 2026, of George Joseph Doucette, of Tignish, age 91 years. Beloved husband to Theresa (nee Gallant) Chaisson. Born at Tignish, PEI, on August 9, 1934, he was the son of the late George and Regina Mary (nee Gallant) Doucette. 

Dear father to Ivan, of Charlottetown, Barbara Doucette, of Tignish, Michael (Linda), of Alberton, Elaine (late Wensell) Anderson, of St. Peters, Phillip, of Tignish, Roy (Nancy), of Red Deer, AB,  Karen (Terry) Arsenault, of Miscouche, and David (Tracy), of Tignish Shore. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Brody, Jenna, Brittany, Christine, Sarah, Jillian, Jennifer, Connie, Dexter, Alllyson, Desirea, Kelsey, Candace, and Molly.  He is also survived by his 19 great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Marie McRae, of Tignish, Anne, of Toronto, and Norman (Hilda), of Alberton.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernice Mary (nee Pitre) Doucette (in October 1989), three children in infancy, and by siblings, Manny (Tillie), Dolly (Frank) Curran, Josephine (Isiodore) Chaisson, Lena (Jerry) Chaisson, William (Eileen), Leslie, and Leona.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral on Monday from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Tim Broderick Celebrant. Interment later in the church Cemetery.
