Ann (Marie) Harper, née McAlduff, was surrounded
by the love of her family as she passed away in the early morning
hours of January 4, 2025, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, at the
age of 82. Born in Tignish, PEI, on February 23, 1942, she
married Charlie Harper in 1966. He was the love of her life. Charlie
and Marie made their home in Tignish on Phillip Street, next to her
parents (Lester and Catherine McAlduff), where they raised their two
beloved sons, James and Todd Harper.
Marie is survived and will be deeply missed by her children:
James Harper (Sheila Gaudet) of Kensington, PEI, and Todd Harper of
Tignish PEI, and by her grandchildren Kathleen Harper (Mark Spear) of
Summerside, PEI, Ryan Harper of Pictou, NS, and Braedon Milligan
(Brooke Tremblay) Tignish, PEI, and by her great-grandson, Charlie
Spear of Summerside, PEI.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49
years, Charles Harper (2015); by her parents, Lester (1991) and
Catherine (2005) McAlduff; and by her younger brother, James
"Jimmy" McAlduff (1961).
Marie was a devoted wife, and loved her husband Charlie most
of all, but she also loved working in the office at the Alberton
Fisheries, living next door to Todd and Braedon, going to bluegrass
festivals with Charlie in their camper, and visiting with her lifelong
friends Alice, Janie, Diane, and Irma. She was a faithful parishioner
at St. Simon and St. Jude Church. She made the best meat pie, and
always found a way to have her whole family over for lobster on
Christmas Eve.
A wake will be held at Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel,
Alberton, PEI, Monday, January 6, 2025, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and a
funeral service will be Tuesday, January 7, 2025, 10:30 a.m., at St.
Simon and St. Jude in Tignish, PEI, Rev. Tim Broderick officiating.
Marie will be laid to rest at St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery at a
later date.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at Summerset
Manor, where she was cared for with kindness, dignity, and respect,
for the last years of her life.
As an expression of sympathy memorials to St. Simon and St.
Jude Building Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
Marie has finally made
it home to heaven's bright shore to rest in eternal life with her
beloved husband, Charlie.
Eternal rest grant unto
them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
