The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of
the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, of
Frederick Joseph (Fred) Richard of Alberton, and formerly of Brooklyn,
age 88 years. Beloved husband to Vaunda Elaine (nee Ashley) Richard.
Born at St. Peter and St. Paul on November 21, 1936, he was the son of
the late John L. and Annie (nee Perry) Richard.
Lovingly remembered by his daughters, Rozalyn (Duane
Williams) of Brooklyn, and Chantal Richard of Charlottetown. Cherished
grandfather to Dylan Williams (Kayla Breen), and David Williams.
Great-grandfather to Livi. Dear brother to Alma (Vincent)
Doucette, of Maplewood Manor, Alberton. Best friend of 80 years to
Jimmy Doucette. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Herbert (June)
Pridham, of Montrose, and sister-in-law, Esther Hardy of Tignish. He
will be sadly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, and by his many
friends and acquaintances.
He was predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Aubin
(Jeanette) Richard, Ida Gillis, Rosie (George MacKenzie), and Joe
(Cecile) Richard. He was also predeceased by brothers and
sisters-in-law, Irene (Douglas) Rix, Marion Pridham, Floyd Hardy,
Betty and Wendell Matthews, and by his father and mother-in-law, Alvin
and Vera Ashley.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel,
Alberton. Visiting hours Friday, November 22nd, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral on Saturday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church,
Tignish, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Greg Conway,
Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Cascumpec United Church
Cemetery.

St. Anthony's Branch #27 of the Royal Canadian Legion will
hold a service of Rememberance Friday evening at 5:45 p.m.
