With heartfelt sorrow we are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Mary Exzelia (nee Arsenault) DesRoches, of the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, and formerly of St. Felix, age 101 years. Born on November 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (nee Arsenault) Arsenault.

She will be greatly missed by her loving children, Gerald (Irma) Christopher, Doreen (Rennie) Richard, Ann (John) Pitre, Joanne (Claude) Gaudette, Steve (Lucy) Christopher, Len (Mary) Christopher, Bernie (late Charles) Lambert, Angela Arsenault (deceased), Wilf (Bonnie) Christopher, Ken Christopher, and Josie Nicolajsen. She will be sadly missed by her 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, Reggie, Douglas, Melvin Jr, Wayne, and Loring Desroches and their families, her niece, Pat (Allison) Williams, nephew, Cyril Doucette, and cousin, Delsie (Melvina) DesRoches. 

She was predeceased by her husbands, Walter Christopher, Frank Buote, and Melvin DesRoches. Also predeceased by an infant son, baby Gerard, daughter, Angela Arsenault, and her siblings, Sr. Mary Assumpta CSM, Agnes Doucette, and Ben Arsenault.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton, for visiting hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Saturday morning, August 24th, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, for funeral mass at 10:30am, Rev. Tim Broderick, Celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy donations to the Maplewood Manor Recreation Fund, or to the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home will be gratefully appreciated by the family.

The Tignish Branch #26 of the Ladies Auxiliary will hold a prayers for their departed member Friday afternoon at 1:45pm. Also, the St. Felix Council of the CWL will hold a prayers for their departed member Friday evening at 6:45pm.

The family are grateful to the staff from Tignish Seniors Home, and the staff from the Maplewood Manor for the care and compassion given to their mother.
