The death occurred peacefully, after a
short illness, with a trusted friend by her side, on February 23,
2024, at the Sacre Coeur Hospital in Montreal, of Mabel (Peggy) Geneva
McNeill Dumas, in her 97th year.
Born on May 5, 1928, she was the
predeceased by her parents, Lenus and Angelina McNeill of Elmsdale,
and was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased
in 1998 by her beloved husband of 39 years, Jacques Antoine Dumas. She
was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Wilbur Gray,
Eileen and Vernon Ramsay, and Marion (Molly) and Everett Arsenault.
She was also predeceased by her brother, Everett, as well as brothers
and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Theresa McNeill, and Roy and Elizabeth
McNeill. She is survived by brother-in-law, George Luttrell,
Rosebank, and many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and
acquaintances in Prince Edward Island and Montreal, where she made her
home for 70 years.
Mabel (Peggy) McNeill Dumas lived a long
and joyous life filled with work, adventure, travel and love of family
and home. She was a lifelong learner, an avid gardener, and a
lover of nature in all its forms. She was intensely proud of
the place and people she came from, never forgetting the values
instilled in her during her growing up years on the Tom
Road.
The interment will take place,with her
husband Jacuques under the direction of the Rooney Funeral Home, at
Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Alberton on September 9, 2024, at
11:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following in the Parish
Hall.
