The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by family in the
Palliative Care Unit at Western Hospital, Alberton, on Saturday, June
8, 2024, of Shirley Anna Bowness (nee Oliver), aged 87 years. Beloved
wife of the late Byron Bowness of Huntley. Born on May 31, 1937, she
was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (nee Matthews) Oliver
of the Dock Road.
Loving mother to Charlotte Bowness, Huntley, Shelly Baker
(late Murray) Charlottetown, and Iver (Kim) Bowness, Huntley,
and chosen daughter, Ivy Inkpen, Summerside. Cherished grandmother to
Mary-Anne (Marvin) Prodanovic, Ben (Jen) Barnes, Maegan (Andrew)
Morash, Dan (Charley) Barnes, Brett (Brittanny) Bowness, Travis
(Samantha) Bowness, and Matthew Byron Fred (Natasha) Bowness.
Great-grandmother to Xander, Viola, Lily, Charlotte, Juniper,
Everly, Brannigan, Beau, and Brooks.
Dear sister to Wendell (late Janice) Oliver of Alberton,
and Trude (Joseph) Dolphin of Emyvale. Also survived by her aunt,
Pearl Bell of Maplewood Manor, Alberton, and by sisters and
brothers-in-law, Evelyn (late Eston) Ramsay, Lynda (Alan) Leard,
Allison (Joan) Bowness, and Revada (late George)
Bowness.
Predeceased by Reginald Oliver, Edgar Oliver, Lilybeth
Oliver, Dorothy (late Clayton) Travers, Marie (late Paul) Devlin, Lois
(late Ken) Pridham, Keith (late Blanche) Bowness, Herbert Bowness, and
Doreen (late Lowell) Huestis.
Resting at Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel for visiting
hours Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral to be held
at E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13,
2024, Rev. Erasmus Madimbu officiating. Interment at the Montrose
United Church Cemetery.
