At the close of a long life well-lived, the death occurred peacefully at Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, of Walter Brenton - Ted - Hudson of Cascumpec, age 105 years. Beloved husband for 74 years of the late Jean Hudson (nee MacNeill). The second eldest of 10 children, Ted was born in Cascumpec on September 21, 1918, to the late Brenton and Helen (nee MacLellan) Hudson. For almost all of his 105 years he resided in Cascumpec. In the 1940s Ted and Jean established their own farming homestead, located one mile down the road from the home in which he was born.
Cherished father to Lowell (Ada), Shirley and Ernie (Marilyn). Loving grandfather to Carman, Lisa, Amanda (Pat) and Pamela (Alex), and dear great-grandfather to Brant, Brooklynn, Jack, Toff, Hudson and Sonny. Pre-deceased by much-loved grandsons Travis and Morgan.
Dear brother of Jean Murphy (late John) and Leta Leard (late Gordon) and brother-in-law of Lorne MacNeill (Ruth). Pre-deceased by brothers and sisters: James (late Essie), Velma Harrison (late Garth), Vernon (late Tim), Arthur (late Lillian), Ernest (late Gloria), Everett (late Lois), and Sue Warren (late Gerald). Also pre-deceased by sister-in-law Norma MacIsaac (late Elwood).
Ted is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom he was deeply fond, as they were and are of him. Those who could, visited their Uncle Ted at his home, at Western Hospital and at Maplewood Manor. He greatly enjoyed the company and appreciated your thoughtfulness as does his family.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visitation on Wednesday, March 27th from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral Service on Thursday afternoon from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel beginning at 2:00pm, Rev. Erasmus Madimbu officiating. Interment at a later date in the Cascumpec United Church Cemetery.
In memory of Ted donations to the West Prince Caring Cupboard or the Western Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff at Western Hospital for the excellent care and kindness which was shown to Ted while he stayed there. In addition, we would like to thank the medical and support staff at Maplewood Manor for both the quality of care and quality of life they provided him.
