It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Reginald (Reggie) Ivan Murray, of Elmsdale, age 77 years. He passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Hospital on March 20, 2024, the first day of spring. He passed surrounded by his loving family, by whom he will be greatly missed. Reggie was born in Summerside, P.E.I., on January 16, 1947.

He was predeceased by his father, William Murray, mother, Hannah (Costain) Murray, brother, William (Billy) Murray, and his sister, Evelyn (Murray) Ellands.

He is survived by his loving wife Claudette Ann (Wood) Murray, his cherished sons Andrew Costain (Tracie), of Bonanza, Alberta, and Calvin Murray (Emma), of Elmsdale, PEI. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Seth Blanchard, Hannah Blanchard, Mikyla Christenson, Kalia Christenson, and Sylas Christenson. As well, his nephews, George Ellands, James Ellands, and his mother-in-law, Annie Wood.

Reggie will be remembered for his perseverance, strong will, and loving way. He always ensured the absolute best for his family. Reggie was a brilliant father who always went above and beyond for his sons, and continued with the same spirit for his grandchildren.

Reggie worked as a mechanic for over 40 years, and was very proud and passionate of his work. He faced incredible challenges throughout his life, but always came out of them a stronger, better person. Having been a polio survivor, which left him paralyzed, he was always determined not to let his disability affect what he could and could not do.

It would be a common sight on a sunny day to see Reggie driving his Nissan pickup around up west. If he had free time, you could bet he was spending it with family, cherishing every moment. Reggie will be remembered as an inspiration to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Satrurday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Sunday afternoon from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, at 4:00 p.m., Rev. Dennis Hubert officiating. Interment later to take place in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Western Hospital Equipment Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
