The death occurred at Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Monday, March 4, 2024, with his loving family by his side, of Edward Harold Rayner, formerly of O'Rourke Road, at the age of 80. Born on May 12, 1943, he was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Jean (Betty) (nee Rayner), whom he married on July 24, 1965.

He was a devoted father to three children, Harold Wayne Rayner (Dara), Andrew John Rayner (Lynn), and Tammy Lynn Thomas (Brent) He was a wonderful grandfather to 12 grandchildren, Evan, Jacob, Maria, Paxton, Brooke, Morgan, Benjamin, Edward (Ted:Jolisa), Timothy, Grace, Ashlyn (twin, deceased), and Sara. Great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, William (Liam), Kaylee, and Madelyn.

Edward was the son of the late Alvin John Rayner and Mary Frances (Kinch), brother to 10 siblings, Vic Rayner, Ivan Rayner (late Carolyn), Eleanor MacNeill (late David), Ann Gordan (late Bob), Doug Rayner (Hollie), June Pridham (Herbie), Leonard Rayner (Claudia), Blair Rayner (Aldona), Geraldine Eldershaw (Billy), and Joan MacKay (Jeff). Beloved by many nephews and nieces.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, for visiting hours Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Friday morning from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel for funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Gordon Weatherby and Rankin MacKinnon officiating. Interment later to take place later in the Greenmount Church of Christ Cemetery.

Donations made to the West Prince Home Care and Support or to the Maplewood Manor Equipment Fund would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
