The family of Whitney Murray are saddened to announce his passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on January 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1952, to Vera and Warburton Murray, of Piusville. Survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Faye, and his adoring four daughters, Christina Murray (Gilles Arsenault), Charlotte Kang (Dohyung Kang), Rachel Childs (Andrew Childs), Sarah Costain (Gary Costain), and Deven Kennedy, who held a special place in Whitney’s heart.

Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Mairin and Makena Arsenault, Aiden Kang, Olivia Childs, Caroline and Abigail Costain, and Leo Williams.

Cherished brother of Kevin Murray, sister-in-law Jean Murray. Brother-in-law to Marvin MacDonald, Connie and Roger Luxton. Predeceased by his parents, Vera and Warburton Murray, sister Shirley Williams, brother-in-law, George Williams, mother-in-law, Ethel Williams, sister-in-law, Katherine MacDonald, and nephew, Dale MacDonald. Whitney was a special uncle, to all his nieces and nephews; Kelly Dawn Oliver, Whitney Williams, Derek and Kelly Williams, Heather Murray, Janet Sharpe, Jennifer Murray, Jeff MacDonald, Cathy Dawn Williams-Dennis, Ellen Boucher, and Austin Luxton.

Whitney lived a full life, which was grounded in his love for family and friends. His happiest times were spent living at the cottage with Faye, and surrounded by his family, and welcoming any visitors that came to call. He enjoyed fishing, and was always trying his best to catch the big one. He was a lover of nature and wildlife.

Whitney had an incredible gift of being able to show unconditional love and kindness to all who knew him. He took pride in his work and knowing that a job was done well. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours on Monday from 2:00-4:00, 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rooney Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Following this, a reception will be held in Whitney's honour at the Alberton United Church Hall.

Whitney’s family would like to extend their thanks to the Alberton Fire Department, Island EMS, Dr. Hay, and all of the wonderful nurses and staff at the Prince County Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their compassionate care of Whitney.

The funeral will be live-streamed on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, on the Rooney Funeral Home Facebook page.
