The family of Whitney Murray are saddened to announce his
passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on January 18, 2024,
surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1952, to
Vera and Warburton Murray, of Piusville. Survived by his
loving wife of nearly 50 years, Faye, and his adoring four daughters,
Christina Murray (Gilles Arsenault), Charlotte Kang (Dohyung Kang),
Rachel Childs (Andrew Childs), Sarah Costain (Gary Costain), and Deven
Kennedy, who held a special place in Whitney’s
heart.
Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Mairin and Makena
Arsenault, Aiden Kang, Olivia Childs, Caroline and Abigail Costain,
and Leo Williams.
Cherished brother of Kevin Murray, sister-in-law Jean Murray.
Brother-in-law to Marvin MacDonald, Connie and Roger Luxton.
Predeceased by his parents, Vera and Warburton Murray, sister Shirley
Williams, brother-in-law, George Williams, mother-in-law, Ethel
Williams, sister-in-law, Katherine MacDonald, and nephew, Dale
MacDonald. Whitney was a special uncle, to all his nieces and
nephews; Kelly Dawn Oliver, Whitney Williams, Derek and Kelly
Williams, Heather Murray, Janet Sharpe, Jennifer Murray, Jeff
MacDonald, Cathy Dawn Williams-Dennis, Ellen Boucher, and Austin
Luxton.
Whitney lived a full life, which was grounded in his love for
family and friends. His happiest times were spent living at the
cottage with Faye, and surrounded by his family, and welcoming any
visitors that came to call. He enjoyed fishing, and was always trying
his best to catch the big one. He was a lover of nature and
wildlife.
Whitney had an incredible gift of being able to show
unconditional love and kindness to all who knew him. He took pride in
his work and knowing that a job was done well. He will forever be
remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle,
and friend.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours
on Monday from 2:00-4:00, 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be
held at Rooney Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at
2:00 p.m. Following this, a reception will be held in Whitney's honour
at the Alberton United Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made memory of Whitney to
the Alberton/Elmsdale United Pastoral Charge, or a charity of your
choice.
Whitney’s family would like to extend their thanks
to the Alberton Fire Department, Island EMS, Dr. Hay, and all of the
wonderful nurses and staff at the Prince County Hospital and Queen
Elizabeth Hospital for their compassionate care of Whitney.
The funeral will be live-streamed on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, on the
