The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, with his loving wife and family by his side, of Russell Joseph Bernard, of Nail Pond, age 77 years. Beloved husband to Mary Etta (nee Perry) Bernard. Born at Nail Pond, PEI, on March 14, 1946, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Theresa M. (nee Chaisson) Bernard. 

Loving father to Beryl and Kellie. Dear brother to Roger (Marilyn) Bernard, Dorothy (Clayton) Keough, Leonard (late Francis) Bernard, Doloris (Henry) Gallant, and Ralph (Linda) Bernard. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther Bernard, Marion Bernard, Cora (late Lester) Gallant, Phyllis (Austin) Arsenault, and Ivan (Angela) Perry. Russell will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas C. and Theresa M. Bernard, brothers, Leo, Charlie, and Raymond (late Elaine) Bernard, two sisters, both named Mary, in infancy, his father and mother-in-law, Fidele J. and Flossey M. Perry, brothers-in-law, Lloyd Perry, and Everett Perry, and sister-in-law, Shirley Doucette.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday morning, January 5th, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. John Molina, celebrant. Interment later in the church cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials to St. Simon and St. Jude Restoration Fund or to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
