The death occurred peacefully, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, August 31, 2023, with her loving family by her side, of Sylvia Mary Aylward, of Summerside and formerly of Alberton and St. Edwards, age 85 years. Born at St. Edwards, PEI, on October 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Margaret (nee Laviolette) Poirier.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward J. Richard, in 2001, and by her second husband, Gerald J. Aylward, in 2022. Lovingly remembered by her children Cindy (Allan) Brown, of Summerside, Charlene Richard, of Summerside, Blair Richard (deceased 2022), James Richard, of Charlottetown, and Robert (Paula) Richard, of Kelvin Grove.

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Ashley, Amy, Alexander, Haley, Nathan, and Robyn. Great grandmother to Taylor, Addison, Elynn, Brinley, Sage and Avry. She also survived by a sister, Delia Sheilds, of Hamilton, ON.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond, Leo, Joseph, and Anita.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. No visitation by personal request. Funeral Tuesday morning from the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
