The death occurred suddenly, at Springfield, PEI, on Friday, June 2, 2023, as the result of a highway accident, of Charles John Bernard, of Nail Pond, PEI, age 80 years. Beloved husband to Marion Lucy (nee Perry) Bernard. Born at Nail Pond, PEI, on March 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas C . and Theresa M. (nee Chaisson) Bernard.

Loving father to Tommy (Phyllis) Bernard, of Nail Pond, Tammy (Blair) Arsenault, of Nail Pond, Tyler (Jessica) Bernard, of Brackley Beach, and Troy, who died in infancy. Cherished Papie to Tara (Matthew) O'Meara, Shawna (Jackson) Platts, Charlie (Fallon)  Bernard, Meaghan (Slade) Handrahan, Cody (Megan) Arsenault, and Hunter Bernard. Caring great-grand-Papie to Annie, Gracie, and Rylie O'Meara, Stella and Eva Platts, and Myles Handrahan. Dear brother to Roger (Marilyn) Bernard, of Kensington, Dorothy (Clayton) Keough, Leonard (late Frances) Bernard, Russell (Etta) Bernard, Doloris (Henry) Gallant, and Ralph (Linda) Bernard, all of Nail Pond.

He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Esther Bernard, of Alma, and by brothers-in-law, Clarence (late Joan) Perry, of Nail Pond, Alfred (late Marie) DesRoches, of Tignish, and by godsons, Randy Martin, and Travis Bernard (deceased). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, friends, and by his many acquaintances.

He was predeceased by siblings, Leo Bernard, Raymond (late Elaine) Bernard, and by sisters, both named Mary, in infancy.

Charles was a member of St.Simon and St.Jude Church Tignish and was a proud member of the Rev.M.J.Rooney Council of the Knights of Colombus.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Friday evening, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday afternoon, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 3 p.m., Rev Greg Conway, Celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials to PEI Life would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

The Rev. M.J.Rooney Tignish council of the K of C will hold prayers for their late brother Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
