The death occurred peacefully, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, with his loving family by his side, of Frederick Leonard (Fred, The Milkman") McElhiney, of Alberton age 76 years. Beloved husband of Beverley Ann (nee Matthews) McElhiney. Born at St. John, NB, on January 10, 1947, he was the son of the late James Leonard and Ethel May (nee Braid) McElhiney. 

Loving father to Tammy (Jackie) Fraser, of Alberton, Tania (Billy) Ramsay, of Stratford, and Twylia Dawn McElhiney, of Tignish. Cherished grandfather to Tanner MacLean (Morgan Waite ), Morgan MacLean, Jerika (Andre) Landes, Nathan Ramsay, Curklan Fraser (Jenna Arsenault), and Courtney Macwilliams (Tyler Perry). Great-grandfather to Noah and James. He is also survived by stepbrothers, Gary (Leanne) Gavin, of Alberton, and Austin (Clarence) Gavin of Saint John, NB. Fred will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, and everyone who knew him over the years. 

He was predeceased by sisters, Carolyn, Josephine, and Ruth. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Daniel Gavin, stepsister, Nadine Ramsay, and stepbrother, Clifford Gavin. 

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Monday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Tuesday morning from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Sheila McCrea MacCallum officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
