The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, of Frank Joseph McGill, age 70 yrs.

It is with great sadness that the family of Frank (Francis J.) McGill Jr., husband of Linda (Thomas) McGill, announces his passing after a lengthy illness. Born April 24, 1952, he was the son of the late Francis J. McGill and Edna R. (Driscoll) McGill.

In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, he leaves behind his siblings, Jane (Clive) Pitts, Peter (Barbara) McGill, Patricia McGill, Michael (Cathy) McGill, Mary (Robert) Crowley, and Shelley (Mark) Russell, as well as his brother-in-law, Harold Hilton. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews: Clive Pitts, Simon Pitts, Charlotte McGill Pierce, Corey McGill, Alexis McGill, Emily Long, Michael Tilley, Jennifer Tilley, Heather Tilley, Matthew McGill, Patrick McGill, Jordan McGill, Emma Crowley, Ian Crowley, Rebecca Russell, Samantha Russel, Kenneth Hilton, and Wesley Hilton. Uncle Frank was also blessed with 32 great-nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, his brother Charles J. McGill, and by his loving PEI family, parents-in-law, Harry and Grace Thomas, and his sister-in-law, Margaret Hilton.

Frank served as a corporal in the Armed Forces, and graduated from the Atlantic Baptist College, and attended Acadia University. He worked in library services for CFB Summerside and the CRA Taxation Centre.

Frank was born and raised in Saint John, NB, but he quickly adopted PEI as his home turf, especially the Thomas farm in O’Leary. Besides his devotion to his beloved wife, Linda, Frank had an energetic passion for golfing and gardening. If you can play 18 holes in a day, why not 36 holes? Most plants he lovingly nurtured from seeds. He even grew watermelons this past season. He had a quick wit, and offered his insights with the skill of a professional comedian. He will be sadly missed.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton.Visiting hours Thursday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral on Friday February 24th, from the Alberton Baptist Church, for funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment  to take place at the Cascumpec United Church Cemetery on Saturday May 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

As an expression of sympathy, memotrials to the Summerside Baptist Church or to the Alberton Baptist Church would be gratefully appreciated.
