The death occurred at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Friday, January 28, 2022, Marguerite Mary Gavin, beloved wife of the late Walter R. Gavin, formerly of Sea Cow Pond, age 94 years. Born at Ascension, PEI, on September 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Alice M. (nee A' Hearn) Handrahan.

Cherished mother to Frances Gavin of Sea Cow Pond, Gary (Frances) Gavin of Sea Cow Pond, Gordon (Loreen) Gavin of Victoria, BC, Dawn Gavin of Halifax, NS, Floyd (Donna) Gavin of Sea Cow Pond and Curtis (Mahalia) Gavin of Kingston, ON. Loving grandmother to, Cory, Cassie, Meaghan, Brittany, Leigh, Lee-Ann, Samantha, Christina, Meguel and Rafael. Great-grandmother to Haylan, Haddie, Freya, Darby Ann, Madison, Khloe, and Oliver.

Dear sister to Frances (Brad) LeClair of Ascension and Doreen (Frank) Tucker of St. Catherines, ON. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Inez Handrahan of Tignish, Sr. Frances Gavin of North Bay, ON, Doreen Handrahan of Tignish, Lena Handrahan of Ascension and Helen (late Atwood) Gavin of Tignish Seniors Home.

She was predeceased by siblings, Edgar Handrahan, James (late Ida) Handrahan, Sr. Geraldine Handrahan, CND, Hilda (late Bill) Karkus, Mable (late Lorne Smith) Esther (late Fred) Harper, Theresa (late Ted) Wosley, Hurbert Handrahan, Levi (late Helen) Handrahan, Leonard Handrahan, Chester Handrahan, Ernest Handrahan and Roy Handrahan. After the passing of her husband, Walter, Marguerite became a very active with Island Hospice and was also an active member of the Tignish Council of the CWL and St. Simon and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Tignish.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. A private family funeral  Thursday afternoon  February 3,rd 5:00 p.m. Interment later in the church cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, or to Island Hospice, West Prince Chapter would be gratefully appreciated.

The family would like at this time to express the heartfelt thanks to all the staff and care givers of the Maplewood Manor Alberton for their love, care and attention given to their mother during her stay at the Maplewood Manor.
