The death occurred at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, with his loving family by his side, of Dennis Joseph Pitre, beloved husband to Bertha Mary (nee Pitre) Pitre aged 80 years. Born on April 25, 1941, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Julia (nee Arsenault) Pitre.

Loving father to Ann (Norman) Gaudet, Audrey (Lyman) Getson, Darryl (Ruby) Pitre, Evie Gaudet, Susan Pitre (Millar MacQuarrie), Malcolm (Kelly) Pitre and Blair Pitre. Cherished grandfather to Devin (Crystal), Jessie (Carter), Janel (Jarrett), Dallan (Katie), Krista (Wade), Kyle (Shanae), Melanie (Randy), Trish (Doug), John, Tyson (Brittany), Katie, Jenna (Cory), Stephen (Candice), Macey (Jodi), Kathleen (Andrew), Karlie and Blake.  Great-grandfather to Hanna, Braylin, Raymond, Emery, Ben, Mikey, Shayna, Seamus, Jacob, Aiden, Mason, Logan, Gwen, Annabelle, Reggie, Emily, Kaili, Vada and Kohen.

Dear brother to Evelyn Pitre, Ann Marie Chaisson, Adeline (late Bennett) MacKinnon, Dolor (Bernice) Pitre, Cec (Bill) Callaghan, Aggie (Howard) DesRoches and LeRoy (Connie) Pitre.  Dear brother-in-law to Emily (Vernon) Chowen, Theresa (Maurice) Peters, Joe Peters, Angela DesRoches, Emile (Helene) Pitre, Shirley DesRoches, Francis (Nicole) Pitre, Barb (Dale) Gaudette, Doreen Peters, Charlie Gaudet and Phil Gaudet.  

He was predeceased by sisters, Melvina Gaudet and Lorraine Gaudet, and by a brother, Gerry Pitre, as well as brothers-in-law, Lloyd Pitre, Oswald Pitre, Cecil Pitre and Seymour DesRoches.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton, with visitation Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Private funeral for family and invited guests Thursday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, for funeral mass at 10:30 am. Interment in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Simon and St. Jude Building Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
