The death occurred suddenly at his late residence, on
Wednesday, November 17, 2021, of George William Lynch of
Inverness, age 82 years. Born at Inverness on December 1, 1938, he was
the son of the late William George and Dorothy Ethel (nee Harvey)
Lynch. Beloved common-law husband to the late Ruth Harriet (nee
Coughlan Fitzgerald), who predeceased him in
2016.
Dear father to Audrey (William) MacLaurin, Joyce Coughlin
(Gabe Maya), Eddie (Donna) Fitzgerald, John (Yvonne) Fitzgerald of Mt.
Carmel, Elaine (Leith) Milligan of Mill Road, and Paula (Nelson)
Cormier of St. Gilbert. He is also survived by sons-in-law, Terry
Smith and Gary MacDonald, and daughters-in-law, Marie Fitzgerald and
Betty Fitzgerald. Dear brother to Kenny Lynch and Grant (Erma) Lynch.
He will be sadly missed by his numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and by his many
friends and acquaintances.
He was predeceased by daughters, Shirley (late Wayne)
MacKenzie, Connie Smith and sons, Jerry Fitzgerald, Roger Fitzgerald,
his sister, Katherine Lynch and son-in-law, Floyd
Coughlin.
George was born in Inverness. He worked in construction,
building bridges all his life. His hobbies were harness racing,
fishing trout, and hunting. In the summer he loved to sell quahogs
just to have people drop in to visit. He loved planting his garden in
the summer. His whole life revolved around his common-law wife Ruth
and his family.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton, from
where a public visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 to
9:00 p.m. A private funeral service for family and invited guests on
Monday afternoon from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel at 1:30
p.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant officiating. Interment in St. Bridget's
Cemetery, Foxley River.
As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the
family.
Funeral will be live streamed on Rooney Funeral Home Facebook
page at 1:30 p.m.
Proof of vaccinations and photo ID required to attend the
visitation.
