The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on  Wednesday, September 1, 2021, with her family by her side, of Shirley Louise Sawyer, formerly of Alberton, age 78 years. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Henry Sawyer, who predeceased her in 2006. Born on January 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia (nee Arsenault) Richard.

She is survived by a son, Scott and his wife Adriana, and by grandchildren, Max and Othelia. Dear sister to Leonard and his wife, Jean, of Hamilton, ON. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel Richard of Tignish, Leo Sawyer of Indiana, Cyril Sawyer of California, Lola MacInnis of Halifax, Anne Richard and Ida Kelly of St. Peters, NS. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, and by her many friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elmer (late Louise), Reta (late Alyre) Gallant, Francis (late Isabel), and Reggie.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton.
