At the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, July
30, 2015, of James Andrew Gallant, of Tignish and formerly of
Northport, in his 96th year. Veteran of the Second World War.
Predeceased by his wife Constance (nee Landry) Gallant and by his son
Gregory. Born at Alberton on November 18, 1919, he was the
son of the late Austin and Jane (nee Buote) Gallant. Dear father to
David (Carol Anne) of Broderick Road, Tignish, and Peter (Helen) of
Northport. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Tanya Gavin
(Sheldon Gallant), Lynn (Todd) Gallant, Cindy (Jordan) Griffin, Jimmy
(Sherry) Gallant, and Laura Gallant (John Flynn). Great Grandfather to
Connor, Logan, Bennett, Thomas, Alec, Montana, Tyra and Tonisha.
Great-great-grandfather to Zayna. Dear brother to Ethel McCarthy, of
Dartmouth, and Viola Nugent, of Eastern Passage. He was predeceased by
silbings: Gladys Richards, Mary Wood, Lloyd, Charles, and
Frank.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours
Saturday, 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral
Monday afternoon from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for
funeral mass at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant. Interment
to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Alberton. If so desired,
memorials to the Tignish Fire Dept. or to the Canadian Cancer Society
would be gratefully appreciated.
The Tignish Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold
a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Saturday evening at
6:45 p.m.
