The death occurred at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, of John Leo Harper, of the Tignish Seniors Coop Home, Tignish, age 79 years. Born at Tignish on September 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Howard and Bernetta (nee MacIntyre) Harper.

He is survived by his sons, Paul and Scott, step-children, Anny, Michel, and Carl, grandchildren, Kerry and Nicole, and by great-grandchildren, Theresa and Sabrina. He is also survived by siblings, Kevin (Eileen) Harper, of Toronto; Catherine (Vernon) Gaudette, of Tignish; Frances Anne (late Reginald) Shea, of Pleasant View; and Irene Perry, of Tignish. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Norma Matthews, and by his second wife, Louisette Harvey, as well as sisters-in-law, Pauline Harper of Halifax, and Anne Marie Harper, of Tignish. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by siblings, Mary Doyle, Helen LeClair, Reta Callaghan, Frank Harper, Ray Harper, Clifton Harper and Charles Harper.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral on Monday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Arthur Pendergast, Celebrant. Interment later in the Church cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund or to the Tignish Seniors Coop Home would be gratefully appreciated.
