At the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Wednesday March 4, 2015,
of Rita Mary Perry beloved wife of the late Cyril Perry, formerly of
Tignish, age 87 years. Born at Lawrence, Mass., on September
18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Amedee and Emily (nee
Bernard) Myers.
She would frequently come to P.E.I. in the summer to visit
her grandparents and family. She met the love of her life,
Cyril, and married and resided in P.E.I. for two years, then moved
back to Massachusetts and raised her five children. After she and her
husband rertired they returned to Nail Pond.
She worked for nine years at the Royal Star Fisheries until
she retired. Rita enjoyed camping on weekends and playing cards,
watching old movies and visiting with her neighbours, whom she liked
to tease and play tricks on.
She is survived by her children: Ronald (Deloris) of Tignish;
Linda (Howard) Perry of Tignish; Russell (Cindy) of Arizona; Janice
Perry of Metuen, Mass.; and Kenneth (Bessy) of Summerside. Lovingly
remembered by her sister, Anita (Joe) Richard, of Bedford, N.H. She
will also be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours
Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Saturday from St. Simon and
St. Jude Church, Tignish, for Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Brendon
Gallant, Celebrant. Interment later in the Church Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the Maplewood Manor or to
St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund would be gratefully
appreciated.
The Tignish and St. Felix Councils of the C.W.L. will hold
prayers for their departed member at the funeral home, Friday
at 6:40 p.m.
