The death occurred peacefully at the Western Hospital,
Alberton, on Saturday, June 28, 2014, of John Joseph (Joe) Skerry of
10 Mary Graves Lane, Northport, age 70 years. Born at Halifax, N.S.,
on December 22, 1943, he was the son of the late John Stephen and
Elizabeh Anne (nee Graves) Fraser. Predeceased by his loving wife
the former Rhoda (nee Hazlett) Fraser.
Loving father
to Lynn Anne (Paul) Byrne of Wilmot Valley, and cherished grandfather
to Connor, Cassidy and Dylan. Dear brother to Francis (late Brad)
Quinlan of Northport; Christine (Dan) Doherty of South Carolina;
Valerie (Kent) Oliver of Saint John, NB; Sean (Olga) Fraser of
Charlottetown; Patricia Fraser of Trenton, ON. He is also
survived by step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and by his
step-great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two
sisters and one brother, Maureen Morrissey, Paula Roxanne Nicholson
(June 14, 2014), and Vaughan
Skerry.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, from where a
private funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment
in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Joe was a member of the Armed Forces and
a member of the Canadian Guards stationed at Picton, Ontario, where he
served as a Warrant Officer until his retirement, when he then
returned to his native PEI and lived in the family home until
his passing.
