Peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Saint John's,
Newfoundland, on Thursday March 20, 2014, of Marie Sophia Devlin (nee
Bowness), formerly of Montrose age 87 years. Born at Montrose, P.E.I.
on December 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Howard J. and
Frances (nee Crockett) Bowness. Predeceased by her husband Paul
Devlin. Loving mother to Ann of Saint John's and Bill (Molly Brennan)
of Detroit, Michigan, and by her adored grandsons, Eamon and Sean
Devlin. Dear sister to Doreen (Lowell) Huestis of Summerside; Evelyn
Ramsay of Tyne Valley; Lynda (Alan) Leard of Mill River; Byron
(Shirley) Bowness of Huntley; and Allison (Joan) Bowness of Port
Perry, Ontario. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Revada Bowness
of Montrose and Blanche Bowness of Alberton. Also left to mourn are a
large number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as
well as a special friend and guardian angel, Pilar Munoz. She was
predeceased by brothers Herbie, Keith, and George, sisters Lois (late
Kenneth) Pridham and Dorothy (late Clayton) Travers, sister-in-law
Marion McCarroll, and brothers-in-law Phillip McCarroll and Eston
Ramsay. Marie had a wide circle of friends that crossed
generations.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Funeral on
Saturday morning, June 14, 2014, from the Gordon Memorial United
Church Albetrton at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Lynn McKinnon officiating.
Interment to follow in the Montrose United Church Cemetery. Flowers
gratefully accepted or memorials in Marie's memory may be made to the
Montrose United Church Cemetery Fund. Reception to follow the
Interment at the Gordon Memorial United Church Hall.
