The death occurred peacefully at the palliative care unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, with her loving family by her side, of Ellen Winnifred Gallant, beloved wife of Kenneth Gallant of 14 Centennial Drive, O'Leary, age 74 years. Born at Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, NS, on October 10, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Kathleen (nee Tobin) Power of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton.

Loving mother to Linda (Joe) of Regina, SK, Donna (Dave) of Burlington, ON, and Kevin (Judy) of Stayner, ON. Cherished grandmother to Kyle, Kayla, Tyler, Jessica, Melissa, Beyonca and Jayda. Great-grandmother to Madeleine, Jack, Jaxon, Paige, Mariah and Xavier. Dear sister to Carol (late Carmen) Scott of Shelbourne, ON, Brenda (Stan) Edwardson of Branford, ON, and Bobby Power of Toronto. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert Gallant of O'Leary, Wendell and Cathy Gallant of Coleman and Lawrence and Pia Gallant of Mississauga, ON. Lovingly remembered by special friend Chloe Jean Childs. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by siblings, Claddie, Phyllis, Sonny and Junior.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, for visiting hours Friday, February 28th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday morning, February 29, 2020, from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, Alberton, for funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Reception to be held at St. Anthony's Hall following the service.
