The death occurred suddenly at Fort McMurray, Alberta, as the
result of a highway accident, on Thursday, May 23, 2019, of Steven
Frederick Hardy of Montrose, PEI, age 57 years. Beloved husband to
Donna Lynn Burke-Hardy. Born at Alberton on June 13, 1962, he
was the cherished son of Donald R. and Pauline (nee Coughlin)
Hardy.
Loving father to April (Brady) Saunders of Blackfalds,
Alberta, and Sarah (Cory) Caissie of Blackfalds, Alberta. Step-father
to Jason (Jessica) Beatty of Montrose, Megan (Grant) Matchem of Fort
McMurray and Adrian Salamone of Montrose. Cherished grandfather to
Emma, Watson and Charlotte Saunders, Chael and Cade Matchem, Cashlynn
and Shaylee Caissie and Zack Provost. Dear brother to Karen
Hardy (John Mullins) of Cornwall, Clair Hardy (Corine Sprague) of
Estevan, Sask., Lynn Hardy (Jim Dixon) of Calgary, Alberta, Neil Hardy
(Frances DesRoches) of Morrell. He will be sadly missed by his nieces,
nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and
acquaintances.
Steven was the proprietor of the Hardydale Services for 15
plus years, then worked for Clean Harbor Inc. of Fort McMurray, whom
he considered his second family, for the past 10 years.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton for
visiting hours Friday, May 31, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Saturday morning June 1st, from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial
Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Lynn McKinnon Pike officiating. Cremation
to follow.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials in Steven's memory
may be made to the PEI Island Nature Trust would be gratefully
