The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Monday, January 8, 2018, of Floyd Ernest Hardy, of Tignish, PEI, age 85 years. Beloved husband of M. Esther (nee Ashley) Hardy. Born at Brooklyn, PEI, on January 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Willard and Agnes (nee MacMillan) Hardy.

Loving father to: Nancy (Grenvell) MacLeod of Brooklyn, PEI, James (Alexis), of Alberton, Catherine (Darryl) McHugh of Brooklyn, PEI, Brent (Jennifer Kenny), of Tignish. Special Grampie to: Trent (Gina) MacLeod, Vanessa MacLeod, Coranna (Matt) Bostock, Morgan McHugh, Dena McHugh, Janelle Hardy and Matt Hardy. Special Great-Grampie to: Chloe, Shay, Kale, Raya and Miley MacLeod, and Weston Bostock. He is also survived by brothers, Leslie (Jessie) Hardy of Alberton, Kenneth (Dorothy) Hardy of Moncton, Donald Hardy of Riverview, Allan (Vicki) Hardy of Tidnish, NS, and Grant Hardy of Moncton, sister-in-law Vaunda (Fred) Richard of Brooklyn, PEI, and brother-in-law, Herbert (June) Pridham of Montrose, PEI. He is also survived by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his father and mother-in-law, Alvin (Vera Hardy) Ashley, sister-in-law, Marion (Ashley) Pridham, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas (Irene Ashley) Rix, Wendell (Betty Ashley) Matthews, and niece, Karla (Hardy) Banting. 

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday afternoon from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, for funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Dr. Clair MacMillan and Pastor Sheila McCrea-MacCallum officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
