Peacefully at home, with her loving daughters by her side, on January 26, 2017, of Elizabeth (Betty) Catherine Matthews, of Alberton, age 77 years, beloved wife of the late Wendell C. Matthews. Born at Brooklyn, P.E.I., on November 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Vera (nee  Hardy) Ashley. Loving mother of Paula (Barry) Caulier, of Brooklyn, Sylvia (Michael) Corcoran, of Summerside, Wendy (Andy) Kerr, of Cole Harbour, N.S.

Special Nanny to: Matthew Caulier of Brooklyn, Ashley Caulier (John Ross Strang) and great-granddaughter, Tabor, of Mill River East, Amy Lou (Dorian) Smallman and great-grandson, James, of Brooklyn, Monika (Scott) Morrissey, of Tignish; Kerby (Kim) Corcoran and great-grandson, Holden, of Baker lake, Nunavut, Kerri Anne (Steven) Ellsworth and great-granddaughter, Raylee, of Nail Pond and Spencer (Mary Beth) Corcoran, of Summerside; Katie Kerr, of Bradford, England, and Ryan Kerr, of Cole Harbour.

Also missed by her best buddy Bailey, and by sisters, Esther (Floyd) Hardy, Vaunda (Fred) Richard, and brother-in-law, Herbie (June) Pridham, sisters-in-law, Guelda Matthews and Maywood (Fred) Dorman.

Predeceased by parents Alvin and Vera Ashley and sisters, Marion Pridham, Irene (late Doug) Rix, brother and sisters-in-law, Lowell (late Olive), Glen (late Thirza), Kenneth (late Margaret), Clair (late Anita), Haldine, Florence, Noelle (late Mitchell) Gallant, Fred, and Florence, Glennie, Gwendolyn in infancy. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Monday from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Sheila McCrae-MacCallum officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
