Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Saturday, January 7, 2017, of George E. McKenzie, of the Tignish Seniors Coop Home, and formerly of Fort Augustus, PE, and Montreal, QC, age 92 years. Born on November 27, 1924, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (nee Trainor) McKenzie.

Beloved husband of the late Rose (nee Richard) McKenzie. Dear father of Richard (Gabriella) of Montreal and Laura (Sam Steiman) of Oakville, ON. He will also be lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Andrew, Alexander, Mark and Joshua.

He will be missed by sister-in-law, Alma (Vincent) Doucette of Greenmount, and brother-in-laws, Fred (Vaunda) Richard of Cascumpec, and Joe (late Cecile) Richard of Montreal, QC; pre-deceased by sisters, Mary (late Stillman) Marion, Kay (late Hubert) Willet, Laura, and brothers, Louis (late Fanny), Urban, Charlie (late Margaret), Eddie (late Rita), sister-in-law, Ida, and brother-in-law, and Aubin (late Jeanette) Richard. George will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, P.E.I. Visiting hours Monday, January 9th from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Tuesday, January 10th from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 am., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant. Interment at a later date in the Church cemetery.
