Peacefully at her home, on Monday January 18, 2016, of Phyllis Mary Handrahan, beloved wife of the late William C. Handrahan, of Ascension, P.E.I., age 88 years. Born at Ascension, P.E.I., on May 23, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Denise (nee Arsenault) Gallant.

Loving mother to: John of Ascension; Clifford of Ascension; Freda (Terry) of Tignish; Betty (Leo) of Ascension; Jimmy (Christine) of Summerside; Cathy (Peter) Ellsworth of Palmer Road; Frances of Ascension; Jean (Junior) Shea of Anglo; May (Ray) Bruce of Calgary; Claude of Tignish; Sharon (Rodney) of Tignish; and Shirley (Joey) Milligan of Tyne Valley.

She will be sadly missed by her 19 grandchildren, and by her 10 great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Handrahan of Maplewood Manor, Alberton. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, Alma Ellsworth; Jude Gallant; Jerry Gallant; Eloi Gallant; Delima Gallant and Elmira Gallant.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton.Visiting hours Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant. Interment later in the Church cemetery.
