Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Monday, January 4, 2016, with his loving family by his side, of Nelson Joseph Gallant, of Cascumpec, age 70 years. Born April 10, 1945, he was the son of the late Melvin and Loretta (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Beloved husband of Ethel Anne (nee Gavin) Gallant. Loving father of Paul, of Toronto, and Lisa (Tony) Gallant-Scavo, of Twin Cities, Minnesota.

Step-father of Tammy (Willard) Gallant, of Ascension, Cindy Ellsworth (Lonny Fennessey), of Leoville, and Cheryl (Duane) Arsenault, of Gunion Road. Loving step-grandfather to Mariah, Paige and Lucas Gallant, Dominic, Benjamin, Heidi, and Josie Arsenault. Dear brother to Theresa (late Bud) O'Brien, of Summerside, and Gail (Ewing) Snowdon, of Woodstock. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Earl (Karen) Gavin, of Ascension, Vernon (Lorenda) Gavin, of Halifax, and Sylvia (Kenny) Collier, of Halifax. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral Thursday morning from St. Anthony's Church, Woodstock, PEI, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Danny Wilson, Celebrant.

Interment later in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
